But we are about to present to you some its side effects which are hardly known by anyone. It has become such a celebrated Herb that most never thought it might have its own side effects too like any other substances.

1. Caffeine Related Health problems:-
A steaming hot cup of coffee is the first and only thought that is conjured up in one’s mind on hearing the word Caffeine. But did you know that green tea also contains caffeine? These include insomnia, nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea and frequent urination i9n case of some people.
2. Risky during Pregnancy and Lactation:-
For any woman, Pregnancy and lactation are sweet yet delicate times. A high level of consumption of green tea during pregnancy has been linked to an increased risk of miscarriage and a number of other negative effects.
3. Interference with Medication:-
This is one of nature’s biggest ironies, if you asked us, because Green tea is has been marketed and used since ages for its anticancer properties. It has been named the ‘Miracle Herb’ and has been lauded for its other healing powers.
4. Toxicity:-
There is a misconception that consumption of green tea whle fasting would compensate for the nutritional deficiency created by skipping meals. Though it has been discovered that green tea, when taken during fasting, leads to toxicity.
5. Iron Deficiency:-
This might sound unbelievable, but its true. Too much of green tea consumption might increase the chances of iron deficiency in oneself. Green tea contains tannins that block the absorption of iron from food and supplements.
6. Osteoporosis:-
This may not make sense in the beginning. What’s the link between Green tea and Osteoporosis ? But this is how they are linked- Drinking too much green tea can increase the amount of calcium that is flushed out in the urine. And we know the deficiency of Calcium results to Osteoporosis.
7. Lower Testosterone Levels:-
You wouldn’t have come across this one but it’s true. Excessive consumption of green tea can lower testosterone levels. In a Brazilian study, it was found that excessive intake of green tea lowered the amount of testosterones hormones in rodents.
8. Harmful for Liver:-
The culprits are a type polyphenols called catechins. Though they are antioxidents , catechins can prove to be harmful if taken in excess. They target the mitochrondria, which are the powerhouses of the cells in the body, and disrupts the metabolic processes.
