Makeup tips every girl should follow

REMBRANDT® and NEUTROGENA® Holiday Party Prep Event hosted by Molly Sims
Who hasn’t flipped through a celebrity magazine and coveted Jennifer Aniston’s flawless skin or Kim Kardashian’s sultry smoky eye? Thanks to several recent books, now you can steal some of the stars’ favorite makeup tips.

Before concealing dark circles, use an under-eye treatment rich in antioxidants, including vitamins A, E and C, to brighten shadows and combat inflammation. Let it absorb, then gently pat a light, moisturizing concealer over the under-eye area all the way up to the lash line. Never put concealer or foundation on your eyelids as a base, it will cause your eye makeup to crease. First, reach for liner. Skip black like an LBD, it narrows your shape and use a colored one to define your top lash line, says celebrity makeup artist Carmindy. (Blues and greens not your thing? Reach for slate, which looks awesome on everyone.) Now, swipe a shimmery white shadow onto your inner corners in a sideways V shape to catch light, which widens eyes. Finally, make your eyelash curler your BFF. Crimping the top lash line angles hairs so tips are closer to your brows, expanding the entire eye area. Immediately lock in the curve with two coats of lengthening mascara.

Use a primer as a base on lips to keep lipstick color true and prevent it from bleeding. You should put bronzer on your neck, face, and chest to even out your skin tone. Be sure to take a step back and make sure everything is the same color. When applying blush, first smile, then start on the apple of the cheek, blend the blush back towards the top of the ear, then down toward the jawline. Grab a colorless lip balm with shimmer, and apply it to the skin just above your Cupid’s bow the area below your nose and between the peaks of your top lip. Adding light to that area creates the illusion of larger lips, explains Carmindy. Then apply a moisturizing lipstick. Hydrating ingredients, like hyaluronic acid, bind pout-plumping water to your mouth. Make sure it has a high-shine finish; matte versions don’t reflect light. Finish with a swipe of the shimmery balm on the center of your bottom lip.

Makeup is not just about the face! The decollete, upper arms, back and shoulder blades are very important to accentuate. Exfoliate the area with a body scrub and then put on a gorgeous lotion with shimmer. Warm shades like gold, peach or terracotta bronze when it comes to shimmer and make your own! Take the hydrating body lotion and put in fairy dust from the drugstore, half a golden shade and half an apricot-peach shade and then just shake it up. You want to make sure your lipstick is not too defined at your Cupid’s bow on the top of your lip, and that it goes all the way out to the inner corners of your mouth. Be sure to press down hard as you apply.
