This year, one of the biggest celebrity hot spots was the tattoo parlor! Some of your favorite stars tried to hide their body art from the media, and others proudly boasted their tats on social media. 1. Rihanna: Rihanna currently has 21 tattoos. Her most recent is a tribal design covering her whole right hand. Rihanna has admitted that tattoos for her are like an addiction. Rihanna is believed to of had her first tattoo done in 2006, two music notes on her foot. The most known tattoo artist that has created her tattoos is Bang Bang. Bang Bang has apparently done around 13 of her various tattoos.
2. Selena Gomez: You know, getting a neck tattoo from a guy named Bang Bang can be a scary ordeal. That’s why Selena had friends nearby when she got the roman numerals for “76” tatted on the back of her neck last September. What does it mean? Reportedly, the fresh ink is a tribute to a family member “who means very much to her.”
3. Miley Cyrus: Miley Cyrus kept L.A. Ink in business this year! First, she visited Kat Von D in February to get two crossed arrows — a Native American symbol for friendship — on the back of her right arm. In March, amid (very accurate) rumors of relationship drama with former fiance Liam Hemsworth, Kat inked a version of Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical human heart design on Miley’s forearm.
4. Alyssa Milano: Former Who’s the Boss? star Alyssa Milano has a rosary on her back in addition to a cross and angel on her ankle with the initials of an “ex flame.”
5. Cris Brown: Brown’s camp insists that his new neck tattoo is, in fact, a sugar skull, associated with the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead. But that didn’t quell the firestorm (and mocking meme-storm) that erupted over the ink, which, to many at first glance, appears to resemble a beautiful woman’s bruised face.
6. Harry Styles: Of all the One Direction boys, Harry Styles definitely has the most ink! This year alone, he got his infamous belly butterfly design, three crude nails on his left bicep, the letters G and A on his shoulders (presumably for sister Gemma and mother Anne), a cross on his left hand, and a giant rose on the middle of his left arm. This brings the singer up to over 40 tats!
7. Rita Ora: Rita Ora has revealed the latest addition to her tattoo collection on Instagram – a ballerina. The star, who has recently split from long-term boyfriend Calvin Harris, revealed that she had the dancer drawn freehand on her upper arm before being made permanent with ink. It’s supposed to represent the fact that she and childhood friend Anda will be “ballerinas when we’re 102.”
