Everyone of us has those moments when we end up biting our tongue. How many times do we apologize for something that we were really sorry about? Apologizing means that you are simply sorry for what you did. It is nothing but a form of social acceptance. We tend to apologize for things so that we can fit in. But in this whole apologize drama, we end up sacrificing our beliefs, we start hiding our thoughts and perfecting our behavior. In short we start to mend the situation and fit in. When things don’t go as planned, or we allow our insecurities to creep into the present moment, saying “I’m sorry” can be the easy path out of awkwardness. Our parents have taught us to say sorry. They made us believe that if we say sorry it will only make us feel better. But what if refuse to say sorry? Well, try it! It will feel great not to be sorry, for a change. When we acknowledge we don’t always have to apologize, it actually makes us feel more empowered. And this control and power translates into more feelings of self-worth. The more comfortable you are with yourself and choices, the less you will need to defend yourself or seek approval with an apology. So, it’s time that you stop apologizing for certain things. Certain things? Yes, in the spirit of you celebrating your unique self, stop apologizing for the following certain things.

1. Putting yourself first: There is nothing wrong in putting yourself first at times. Putting yourself first means that you are caring a little more for yourself than others which at times is good. If you don’t do so, people will start taking advantage of you.

2. Walking away from what no longer works: Many a times we tend to stay in a relationship even if it is not working. If you feel that there is no future to your relationship, just get out of it. Staying in will neither do any good to you nor to your partner.

3. The shape and size of your body: Do not think of the shape and size of your body. Just love yourself for the way you are. Don’t fall prey to zero size or six pack abs fad. Love yourself!

4. Your unconventional habits and unique personality traits: Everyone is unique in their own special way. Being unique does not mean that you are a freak. Do not think that some unconventional habits of yours will not be accepted by the society. Just believe in yourself.

5. Doing what you want, when you want: It is okay that you do what you want and whenever you want, at least for once. There is nothing wrong in doing so.

6. Wanting to travel and see the world: Everyone wants to see the world and live free. And there is nothing wrong in doing so. Make some time for yourself and go visit the places you desire the more.

7. Calling in sick when you need a day for you: Lastly, never be sorry if you call in sick when you need a day for yourself. We all need change. Change sometimes can be good or bad, but bunking work for the pleasure of doing something for yourself is a good change. Bunking work will definitely bring back the memory and excitement of bunking college or tuitions.
